New year new me?

1/5/2021

Really, does not that sound magical? The turning of a page in time? Like we all just magically wake up on January 1st, and “Ta-Da!” you are a brand-new person!

The reality is that it does not work that way. It takes discipline and skill, but most of all you need a burning desire to make the changes necessary to transform your life. That desire will help you to get out of bed earlier, stay up later, and tackle the mundane tasks of accomplishing your goals and growth.

Sometimes we lose that desire… it gets buried under daily tasks and responsibilities or sidetracked by an illness or a downturn in economy or mentality. The truth is that your desire is still there. Just like an ember after a fire goes out, that burning desire just needs fuel and oxygen to burst forth again! Where do you get fuel and oxygen for a desire that has all but dwindled out? Surround yourself with the right people. Get involved in a community of people that believe in you and your desire. Have them encourage you. Dr. George M. Adams said this, “Encouragement is oxygen for the soul.” What about fuel? Where can you get the fuel that you need to build up the burning desire within?

The fuel that you are looking for is the everyday items that you allow in your life. We spend far too much time on social media in the comparison game. I know this because I have been caught up in it. We compare ourselves to everyone’s highlight reels on social media. Social media influencers and your friends are sharing the best parts of their life. The news reports the worst of what is going om around you. These things are like wet wood to your soul. Find powerful motivators to keep you mind focused on what will fuel your burning desire. Read books and articles about your dream. Take classes to fuel where you want to go and achieve. Find podcasts and YouTube videos that help you to believe in what you feel called to do. The most important is to spend time with your creator. Listening to what he says about you.

I’ll be honest, the end quarter of 2019 and most of 2020 was not a good season for me. The only way I sustained was by spending time in God’s word with prayer and journaling. He created you for a purpose and finding out that purpose and learning to live towards that is the greatest thing that you can do for yourself. Listening to what He says about you and what He has for you will help you through even the darkest of times. God used people in my circle to care for me, provide for my family, and strengthen me when I wanted to give up.

So, as we start 2021, I want you to know that I am here for you. I want to add value to you in whatever way that I can. I have many years coaching, mentoring, and training others to live out their God given call. I want to help you in any way I can. If I cannot, I will point you to others. I have a huge network of friends, mentors and spiritual leaders that want to help you to grow too.

Here’s to owning the “New You”.
